About
Built to stay small. Built to stay sharp.
We answer to the people who play our games, not to a publisher or a headcount. Staying small is the deliberate choice behind everything here — it is how the work stays careful, the promises stay keepable, and the games stay honest.
Do the hard part early.
We are a game studio first. But the gap between a game that holds up and a game that merely demos is whether the systems underneath are actually sound — so we take the engineering beneath the surface seriously, and build slowly enough to get the foundations right.
That is slower at the start and steadier afterward. Systems you get right once do not need re-litigating every build — the compounding interest of doing the hard part early.
Ursavus, the dawn bear.
The specimen we took our name from.
Ursavus is an extinct genus of bear that lived across Asia, Europe, and North America during the Miocene, roughly twenty million years ago. Its earliest species, Ursavus elmensis, is known as the dawn bear — the first undisputed bear, and the small, fox-sized animal from which every living bear is descended.
It was not the biggest or the fiercest. The cave bears and the grizzlies came millions of years later. It was the one that got the form right — the common ancestor that everything afterward inherited and built upon.
We took the name because that is the ambition: not to be the loudest thing on the storefront this year, but to be the careful origin that good games descend from. Small, early, and built to last.

Work with us.
We hire rarely and carefully. If making games this deliberately is how you want to spend years, introduce yourself — and bring something you have made: a game, a jam entry, a tool, a write-up.
